Evaluations. Connections. Solutions.

Heather Underwood, the hands and heart behind Hilltop Equine Concepts, strives to bring "wellness" and "equine management" into the same category. A horse's emotional state, mindset, living conditions, feeding program, handling, and lifestyle all play a major role in his overall well-being.
To achieve optimal health we asceses problem areas or pain points using a variety of techniques rooted in science and even in spirituality. This is achieved through analytic kinesiology and/or biomechanics paired with intuitive evaluation to bring a deeper understanding of the horse's unique needs. Solutions are achieved through making adjustments based on recommendations, utilizing remedies that may be herbal, homeopathic, or "traditional" in nature, and/or adjusting nutrition as necessary.
Areas of Expertise
Holistic Healing
Heather applies her expertise gained through years of study (and continued education) to each equine situation all rooted in a "whole-horse" approach. From stable management to holistic nutrition every step matters and impacts your equine partner from head to hoof. Simple and complex problems are addressed through investigation, careful assessment, and treatment regimens.
Integrative Bodywork & Balance
For horses with physical problem areas, Heather applies her background in equine sports therapy by teaching techniques to equine owners via remote consultation or demonstrated in-person. This may include modalities like myofascial release, craniosacral therapy, red light therapy, PEMF therapy, thermography, strategic exercise and rehab programs.
Neurological Disease Education
With several years of steadfast dedication to researching, first-hand observation, applied concepts, and overcoming equine neurological diseases, Heather has devoted a significant portion of her time to struggling equine owners faced with challenges associated with EPM, Lyme, toxoplasmosis, bartonella and babesia. Fundamental education on these topics is limited in the scientific community, yet these diseases are prevalent in ALL areas of the country. Heather has helped veterinarians, scientists, equine professionals and horse owners in these matters and works with equine owners near and far via online consultation to help their horses recover.
